THE A2 ARITHMETIC NOBODY EXPLAINS

Twenty results become twenty-five points. Each one is worth 1,25 — so one careless Kreuz costs more than it does in any practice test you mark yourself.

Each part yields 20 Messpunkte, rounded to whole points, then × 1,25 → max 25 Ergebnispunkte. In Lesen and Hören those 20 come from 20 items, so one item is 1,25 points. In Schreiben they come from the two texts' criteria — 10 per task — which is why a task graded E on Aufgabenerfüllung scores nothing at all.

SPRECHEN

25 points directly: Teil 1 four, Teil 2 eight, Teil 3 eight, plus five for pronunciation. The oral is graded live, in pairs, by two examiners.

WHO SITS A2 — AND WHAT THIS KIT IS FOR

EXAM DAY — THE PART FORUMS GET WRONG

  • —Everything is transferred to the Antwortbogen. Lesen Teil 4 and the Hören Ja/Nein grid are where transfer errors happen — rehearse writing answers onto a sheet, not into a margin.
  • —The oral is a pair exam with two examiners, and Teil 3 is a negotiation you cannot script alone: your partner's pace is out of your control. Rehearse it out loud, with the clock.
  • —A2 is not modular. Fail the written floor by one point and the fee, the date and the waiting repeat — which makes a €9 rehearsal the cheapest insurance in your entire A2 plan.
  • —Registration closes weeks ahead (about three weeks at many centres) and results take two to four weeks — timings differ by exam centre, so check yours before you plan the date.

  • What is the pass mark for Goethe A2?

  • Can you retake a failed Goethe A2 section?
