Lesen and Schreiben in telc Deutsch A2 are not two sections. They are one block of fifty minutes — and the answer sheet is still blank when the clock stops.

Every Goethe-shaped practice book gives you a reading part and a writing part, each with its own time. telc does not. You get 50 minutes for both, then ten minutes to transfer every one of your answers onto the Antwortbogen S30 — and that transfer is inside the exam, not after it. Spend too long on Lesen Teil 3 and the time comes out of your e-mail. Every candidate who ever failed this paper on the clock wishes they had rehearsed the trade; nobody discovers it from a key at the back of a book.

THE TELC ARITHMETIC — 36 RAW POINTS IS A PASS

Fifteen raw points per skill. Sixty in total — forty-five written, fifteen spoken. Multiply by 1,66 and 100 is the maximum. Thirty-six raw points is where the certificate starts.

Hören, Lesen, Schreiben, Sprechen — each worth fifteen raw points, one per item in the first three. There is no fraction and no half point anywhere in the paper.

60 raw points become 100 Ergebnispunkte. That makes one raw point worth about 1,66 — so a careless double cross on the answer sheet is not a shrug, it is a visible number on the certificate. At A2 the whole exam — your a fee your centre sets — around €160–180 in Germany and Switzerland, your date, your months of course — turns on about a dozen such points.

NO SECTION FLOOR

Unlike Goethe A2 and öSD A2, telc A2 has no per-section minimum: the Prädikate table reads the total only. Lose Lesen completely and you can still pass — which is exactly why leaving a blank is indefensible here.

THE TELC DAY — WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS

  • —SCHRIFTLICH — EIN DURCHLAUF: Hören ca. 30 Min (ca. 10 Min Ton + Bearbeitung) → Lesen UND Schreiben in EINEM gemeinsamen Block von 50 Min → 10 Min Übertragen auf den Antwortbogen S30.
  • —Hören: Teil 1 (5 Ansagen) und Teil 3 (ein Gespräch) hören Sie ZWEIMAL, Teil 2 (5 Radio-Meldungen) nur EINMAL. Items 1–5 als +/–, 6–10 als a/b/c, 11–15 als Buchstaben a–i.
  • —Lesen: Teil 1 fünf Aufgaben gegen eine Informationstafel (a/b/c), Teil 2 ein Text mit Richtig/Falsch (6–10, mit Beispiel), Teil 3 Anzeigen a–h (11–15) — für genau eine Aufgabe gibt es keine Lösung, dort steht X.
  • —15 Rohpunkte pro Fertigkeit: Hören + Lesen + Schreiben = 45 schriftlich, mit Sprechen 60 Rohpunkte — × 1,66, kaufmännisch gerundet, maximal 100 Ergebnispunkte.

AND WHAT NO BOOK CAN DO

  • ×Put Lesen and Schreiben on ONE 50-minute clock. A book gives each part its own exercises, so the trade that decides the paper never happens in practice.
  • ×Time the transfer. Ten minutes on the S30 with 45 answers to copy is a skill — and it is only learned by doing it with a clock running.
  • ×Grade the five form gaps of Schreiben Teil 1 and tell you which one you lost. A printed key tells you the answer; it does not mark YOUR handwriting.
  • ×Take the × 1,66 arithmetic seriously: a book shows a key, not the Ergebnispunkte your paper would actually score — and not how close to 36 you really were.

WHO SITS TELC A2 — AND WHAT THIS KIT IS FOR

  • —Integration-course finishers stepping from A1 to A2 at a Volkshochschule or a telc centre — where the paper, not the level, is what people fail.
  • —Anyone whose employer, visa file or Anerkennung names "telc Deutsch A2" specifically. Goethe A2 is a different paper; prepping one does not sit the other.

EXAM DAY — THE FOUR THINGS PEOPLE GET WRONG

  • —Lesen and Schreiben share one block. There is no bell between them, and the answer sheets are collected at the end of the block — a slow Lesen is taken out of your Schreiben.
  • —Hören Teil 2 is heard ONCE while Teil 1 and Teil 3 come twice. Five items with no second chance, and they are at the beginning of the audio, not the end.
  • —The transfer is inside the exam. Fifteen items per skill onto the S30, in ten minutes, with no rewrite allowed afterwards.
  • —Not modular. telc states plainly that A2 cannot be sat as a Teilprüfung: fail once and the fee, the date and the whole paper repeat. Sit the mocks first and the repeat never happens.

  • What is the pass mark for telc A2?

    36 of the 60 raw points — telc multiplies the raw score by 1,66 and grades on the result, so 36 raw becomes 60 of 100 Ergebnispunkte. There is no per-section minimum: the Prädikate table reads the total only, which is exactly why leaving an answer blank on the Antwortbogen is indefensible here.

  • What makes the telc A2 paper different?
