Due to demographic aging, Germany faces a deficit of over *200,000 qualified nurses and elderly care specialists (Pflegefachkräfte) over the next decade. Vietnamese nursing candidates are highly sought after by German university hospitals, municipal healthcare trusts, and private clinic groups (Charité, Helios, Asklepios). Depending on your current education in Vietnam, there are two primary routes to becoming a state-licensed nurse (Pflegefachfrau / Pflegefachmann*) in Germany.

The B2 German Clinical Requirement

While a B1 certificate is sufficient to obtain an entry visa at the German missions in Hanoi and HCMC, practicing as a fully licensed registered nurse in Germany legally requires a B2 German certificate (Goethe-Zertifikat B2, telc Deutsch B2, or ÖSD B2). Nurses must be able to document patient handover logs (Pflegedokumentation), administer prescription medication, and communicate fluently with physicians and patients.

Salary Scales and Career Progression

State-licensed nurses in Germany are compensated under statutory public sector collective bargaining agreements (TVöD-P / TV-L). Starting salaries for registered staff nurses range from €2,850 to €3,600 gross per month, with supplementary shift allowances for night shifts, weekend duties, and public holidays (Schichtzulagen). With 2–3 years of specialized clinical experience (intensive care, anesthesia, surgical nursing), salaries rise to €4,000–€4,800 gross per month.

Do German hospitals cover relocation and flight costs from Vietnam?

Most accredited German hospital employers and G2G placement programs provide comprehensive relocation packages covering flight tickets from Hanoi/HCMC, initial accommodation in hospital dormitories, visa fees, and language preparation subsidies up to B2 level.

How fast can a Vietnamese nurse obtain German Permanent Settlement (PR)?

Under §18c AufenthG, foreign skilled healthcare workers who completed a German Ausbildung or recognized vocational qualification can apply for *Permanent Settlement (Niederlassungserlaubnis) after just 24 months (2 years)* of employment and pension contributions with certified B1 German.
